On April 28, 2023, NBTC Thailand issued the licensing standard and technical standard NBTC TS 1039-2566 for the usage frequency 5.925-6.425GHz. The standard sets out the test reporting requirements and test terms required to apply for NBTC certification, effective April 29, 2023.

A summary and requirements of the announcement are below

◆ 5.925-6.425GHz (for example, Wifi 6E) Approval requirement: Sdoc

Required test report:

1. Rf test report based on FCC Section 15.407 (ETSI EN not accepted) : The following test terms:

1.1 Maximum output power:

Note: If used as outdoor equipment, the limit is 25 mW e.i.r.p. and the output power is 250 mW e.i.r.p. The test report will be returned.

1.2 Maximum power spectral density

1.3 Channel Bandwidth

1.4 out of band emissions

1.5 In-band emissions

1.6 Contention based protocol

Remarks: Battery powered power must not be used in access points with an output power of more than 25mW (e.i.r.p.) but not more than 250mW (e.i.r.p.)

2. EMF or SAR test report (for indoor/outdoor use with output power of 25mW, EMF/SAR test report can be exempted)

3, electrical safety test report, such as IEC60950-1 or IEC62368-1 or TIS 62368-1

The announcement affects additional wifi6GHz products that have obtained certificates

◆ For previously approved products without 6GHz under Class A or Class B (such as mobile phones with 4G/5G+wifi), if wifi 6GHz will be added to the product, NBTC requires a new model approval certificate, and the model must be different from the original model;

◆ For products without 6GHz approved by Sdoc previously (e.g. 2.4, 5GHz Wifi), if Wifi 6GHz is added to the product, NBTC will need to obtain a new Sdoc, the model can be the same as the original model.
