On September 23, 2022, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) issued the Technical Regulations on Ornaments and Accessories in its official gazette. This technical regulation specifies the basic requirements for accessories and accessories sold on the Saudi Arabian market and the conformity assessment procedures to be followed by suppliers, which will be officially implemented on March 22, 2023.

This technical regulation mainly includes the following contents:

● Require suppliers (domestic manufacturers or importers) to conduct conformity assessment and obtain a certificate of conformity (CoC) according to the conformity assessment form (type 1a) of ISO/IEC 17067 "Conformity Assessment - Basis of Product Certification and Guidelines for Product Certification Plans";

● Technical documents are required to be attached to the product as part of the conformity assessment procedure. The technical document includes the supplier's compliance statement (DoC, Appendix 4) and risk assessment document;

● It specifies the Saudi standards and specifications that the products should comply with (Annex 1, see Table 1 below) - products with Saudi quality marks or equivalent marks are considered to comply with the requirements of technical regulations;

● Heavy metal requirements for raw materials used in product manufacturing are specified (Annex 2, see Table 2 below).
